Viynl Toys - A Background

Vinyl Toys are hollow figures made of soft PVC. (Polyvinyl Chloride) These figures generally have simplistic features and are produced by a process called rotomolding. (rotational molding)

Rotomolding is a technique in which a heated hollow mold is filled with a charge or shot weight of material, it is then slowly rotated (usually around two perpendicular axes) causing the softened material to disperse and stick to the walls of the mold. The mold continues to rotate throughout the heating process in order to maintain even thickness. The centrifugal force forces the plastic into the details on the walls of the mold but leaves the middle of the mold clear thus producing a hollow figure.

This technique works is preferred for its low costs due to the fact that the figures are hollow, this also makes the figures more lightweight and reduces the cost of transporting them. This low-cost method of toy production is ideal for people who want to make small quantities of toys at affordable price.
